I am loving the progress I'm seeing on my EPP projects. Linking up with Jessica over at Life Under Quilts every week is so motivating. And thank you to everyone who comments … they make my day and keep me pumped up about working with diamonds and hexies.
I managed to get 6 more diamonds stitched together for my big star project. (Only 26 little diamonds left!)
I also was inspired to pull out my other WIP, a batik grandma's flower garden blanket. I've not stitched any flowers together yet, but this week I basted 5 more 1.25" hexies (I think I have 124 basted in total). I worked it out (I'm a big fan of excel spreadsheets) and I need a total 1216 hexies for my blanket. More than 10% basted, woohoo!
At the beginning of the year Jessica asked to see our portable EPP kits, so I finally remembered to take a few pics while the sun was shining this morning.
I found these at Michael's … I have one for each of my EPP projects. The scissors and the needles are the only things that I need to switch between projects.
Have EPP, will travel! :)
This post is also linked up to Hexie Friday at A Quilting Reader's Garden.
Hah! I thought I was the only one who used Excel to calculate out dimensions and number of hexies :) I am also working on a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt, but with 1.5" hexies. I love the batiks and I can't wait to see a couple of the flowers stitched up. Your kit is awesome....I really like the containers that snap together like that.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried batiks, for some reason I thought they bled a lot? Love your colors tho.
ReplyDeleteAll of your fabrics are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Keep going! Those are going to be lovely quilts. Do you find the batiks harder to hand stitch? I sometimes fear the cotton is quite thick. Best, JJ
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colors! I am impressed you baste so much ahead of putting it together...
ReplyDeleteOnly 26 little diamonds left! That is an inspiring number. I love a stash of already-basted EPP. So lovely to pull out and look at, and maybe work on:)
ReplyDeleteI envy your ability to organize. Need a trip to Michael's now.
ReplyDeleteWow, those batik hexies are beautiful! Love them. Thanks for linking to Hexie Weekend and letting us see your progress with both diamonds and hexies, and hope you link again so we can see your progress.
ReplyDeleteLove those colors. How can you resist turning them into shapes?
