Updates on progress, finishes, framing, and a new start

I have a bad habit of not updating on projects when I only do a tiny bit of work on them. Over the course of a month or so I might work on a project several times, but only minor progress occurs each time. However, that progress adds up. :)

Today's post is full of updates -- most of the work took place over the last month and not just since my last post. I sadly can't spend that much concentrated time on my crafting.

Alright, let's get on to the good stuff! Pictures coming up ...

Birds of a Feather got some zig zag added:

Elizabeth has more of her poofy pink skirt:

Rules for Life came home from the framers:

My granny square lapghan is finished!! It is currently being blocked. (This is my first time ever blocking something, so it isn't perfect, but it's a huge improvement from before I blocked it.)

And I started something new ... Metamorphosis (by Ink Circles) in a "fire" colourway (think yellow-orange-red ... eventually):

It always feels like I never have much time to craft, but looking at this post makes me think I manage just fine. Yay! :)

A lady and a lapghan

My focus recently seems to be on just 3 pieces, and I rotate between them frequently.

I've added quite a bit to Elizabeth ... more pinky-purple skirt and a little more of her black bodice.

I have also made a ton of progress on my lapghan (even after ripping out a round and a half). I only have 4 rounds of dark green to go! It needs some serious blocking though.

I developed what I'm calling "crochet finger" which means that the index finger on my left hand has gotten sore from holding up the lapghan and maintaining my stitch tension. So no more marathon crochet sessions for me; I can only do a 1/4 round at a time before the aching sets in. :(

The Granny Square Grows

I've put a few more rounds into my granny square lapghan -- progress is beginning to slow down now that the rounds are getting bigger.

I have a few new projects slated to start soon and I've even put a little work into an old UFO. Look out for more updates!

I'm Hooking Again

For the first time in a long time, I picked up my crochet hook again. I blame this on my dear friend Caroline, who introduced me to Knitpicks.com. I fell head over heels in love and promptly ordered some yarn.

Because I'm a bit daft and like to challenge myself, I decided to crochet a Granny Square lapghan for my mom in her favourite colour - green. I've never crocheted a granny square before, never crocheted in the round before. It was all brand new! After watching half a dozen YouTube tutorials and close scrutiny of the patttern, I gave it a go.

The first two rounds are made from Swish Tonal Yarn in Canopy.

After a little fumbling and more YouTube videos, I managed to change colours and do 4 rounds of Swish Worsted Yarn in Jade.

Next step - add 6 rounds of Swish Worsted Yarn in White.

This has been a lot of fun to work on so far, and I already have a few colourways planned in my head for the next granny square lapghan I'll make.
